Past verbs: who did it?
The ending tells you — he, they, I, we.
The ending added to a past verb tells you who did the action.
No ending = he · ـَتْ = she · ـُوا = they · ـْتُ = I · ـْتُمْ = you (plural) · ـْنَا = we
